ABOUT COCO VR:
Coco VR allows users to explore the world of “Coco,” Pixar’s upcoming Day of the Dead-themed animated feature that will premiere next month. The VR experience will make use of social VR features to allow users to experience this world together.
As a 3D Artist, I was given the great opportunity to create a wide selection of props and interactive assets within the experience. I also had the task to optimize assets made by amazing artists from Pixar that was used in the actual film.

I leveraged Maya to craft assets that were inspired by the film's concept art and style. My role involved carefully transferring textures from various Pixar assets to ensure style and color consistency with the film.

I focused on optimizing film assets created by Pixar's set modelers. This involved processes like decimation and converting high-poly models to low-poly ones for better performance.

I was responsible for creating prefabs for different groups of props and integrating these assets into their designated scenes. I also generated Level of Detail (LOD) for props to ensure efficient rendering.

I took full ownership of key assets, including the Elevator hero asset and the Art Studio. My tasks included set-dressing and integrating assets within Unity, along with creating texture atlases for the props to further enhance optimization.

Additionally, I addressed the meticulous task of patching holes and gaps between background assets across various scenes, ensuring a seamless visual experience.
